31. From Above (Dec 26)


High in the tree
            He sits
Watching the ground
            Unblinking

In the darkness
            He waits
Clutching a limb
            Unmoving

Struck by hunger
            He trembles
Eager to hunt
            Unchanging

A mouse below
            He sees
Spreading his wings
            Unstopping

Quickly and surely
            He attacks
The poor, small mouse
            Unknowing
